Put yourself first.
Yup, I said it.
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for helping and loving on others. That’s what this whole blog is about.
But to be able to do that, you have to love yourself. You have to have a full cup. You have to take care of your own mind, body and soul.
I love my husband with my whole heart. But there have been days where I can’t show him my love, because I have been empty. When I’m feeling down on myself, there’s NOTHING there to give.
I love my son more than I can ever explain. But when I’m tired and exhausted, I’ll be honest, it’s hard not to take it out on him. Because all I want is for him to let me relax. I let my tired heart control my feelings toward him.
It’s not fair to them. And it’s not fair to me.
It’s not selfish to take some time for yourself. It doesn’t mean that you don’t care about your family or friends. It actually shows how much you DO care. Because you know that you need your cup filled to be able to pour it out onto others. It means you know your worth, because you are a child of God.
Take some time for yourself. Find what makes you full. Love every bit of you.
