Peace

“Peace comes to those who ask for it.”

I was really excited to work on peace for my fruits of the spirit this week. Mainly because I haven’t felt peace in awhile. There hasn’t been peace of mind or in my spirit. There’s always something there that takes it away from me, something of this world that I can’t always control.

So I asked for it.

Throughout the week, whenever I felt without peace- when Oliver was throwing a fit out in public, when Drew was working his last day at his second job, when pregnancy and hormones got to me- I just kept repeating this simple line… “Father, give me peace.”

And He did.

It’s funny, we preach and preach that all you have to do is ask and you will receive. Knock and He will come to you. But it’s in those moments of worry and doubt that I forget about that. I forget how willing and WANTING God wants to help us and guide us.

Peace in our homes.

Peace in our schools.

Peace in our world.

Those are the things that come to mind when asking for peace in the big picture. Those are the things that we should be praying for DAILY. Our world is in dire need of it right now. And we can be the change.

Philippians 4:7- “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16:- “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.”

John 14:27:- “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

There may be a lot of unknowns going on in your life right now,  as there is in mine. Ask Jesus to surround you with an overwhelming sense of peace. He will protect you and guide you though it all. Just ask.
