Maybe becoming a mom has made me more emotional, or more aware, of all that they do. It has made me want to love more and cherish the time that we have.
So here is to you, Mothers. All of you.
To the moms who have invested any amount of time in me, who have made me the person I am today. You somehow put up with the strong-willed, stubborn child and made her into a strong woman of God, love, hope, and joy. And for that I am forever grateful. This day is for you.
To the moms who work the 9-5 job to then come home, exhausted and just needing a minute to breathe, but you know you have another job to do. This day is for you.
To the stay-at-home moms- you have the toughest job there is. But it is also the most rewarding, even if nobody else sees it, your kids do. This day is for you.
To the hard-core soccer moms, who drive their kids from one practice to the next. You are their loudest supporters and you have the passion to make them the best they can be, on and off the field. This day is for you.
To the moms who have no idea what’s going on, but you still show up to every game or performance. Just your presence is enough for them. This day is for you.
To the moms of one kid or 10 kids, everyday is chaotic and you don’t always know what you’re doing. But you’re doing your best, and that’s all it takes. This day is for you.
To the step-moms, moms who adopted or foster moms, you may not have carried that child, but you have chosen to love them regardless. You have stepped up and taken on the role to give them the best life, and no amount of DNA can change that. This day is for you.
To the moms who have lost one of their own, whether you held them in your arms or can only imagine what that sweet face looked like. No words can ever sum up what you’re feeling day in and day out, but you’re still pushing through, awaiting the day you get to see your precious love again. This day is for you.
To the moms who have never actually had their own kids, but are still a motherly figure in another kid’s life. You are desperately needed and have made such an impact. This day is for you.
To the moms who gave up their child for adoption, for whatever reason that would be. You were thinking ONLY of your child and wanted to give them the best life they could have. You graciously made somebody else a mom who so badly wanted to be one. This day is for you.
To the teachers, whether you’re a mom when you go home or not, you are a motherly figure to 20 something kids. You spend 8 hours a day with them, guiding them, shaping them into the people they are going to be. You show them love and kindness just like any mother would. This day is for you.
To the future moms, those who are dreaming of what “one day” looks like. Whether it be in 9 months or 9 years, you are about to embark on the scariest but best journey of your life. This day is for you.
Whichever mom you are, know that you have the power to change this world, one child at a time. You are the dreamers, encouragers, lovers, fighters. Even on your worst days, you are the best mom to that child. You are strong. You are loved. You are a boss mom. This day is for you.
